Angling & barbecues for guests at the Lämmerhof
Enjoy the Lammertal trout as part of your half board
Have you ever tried your luck with fishing? No? A summer holiday at the Lämmerhof offers you the ideal opportunity. At the Lammertal fish ponds, situated in the foothills of the Tennengebirge Mountains, newcomers to fishing can book their first catch. And you don't need advance knowledge or your own equipment.
With its fish ponds, the Lämmerhof Alpine guest house provides guests with the opportunity to catch their own evening meal. The trout are then prepared in the traditional ambience of the fish pond lodge.
Do you feel like going to the restaurant or would you prefer the fish pond?
The first decision you have to make in the morning: Would you prefer to go to the hotel restaurant in the evening, or try your hand at some fishing and a barbecue with your hosts, Georg and Anita, at the hotel's own fish pond? Many of the regular guests require little time to make this decision. Those who have never visited the fish pond before and aren't sure about it will be told all about what happens there by the nice breakfast ladies.
Try out your luck with fishing!
If you've chosen to go to the fish pond, then things get under way at the Lammertal fish pond from 5 pm onwards. You will then be given a wooden fishing rod, a little corn and some instructions. You don't usually have to wait very long for until you manage to catch your first trout. It is an experience that both children and adults will be certain to remember for a long time.
Cosy evenings at the fishing lodge
Situated above the fish ponds the comfortable fishing lodge, which its patio and tables, makes a pleasant change from the restaurant on sunny summer's days. On milder days, the interior of the lodge provides a comfortable atmosphere and space for up to 40 guests.
In front of the lodge, the freshly caught trout is seasoned before being fried in an iron pan according to the "trout meunière recipe" and served with salad, bread and cold drinks chilled in the stream next to the lodge. The guests can also see the Kitchen chef and host, Georg, at work. And that usually includes some conversation!
A special evening with your hosts
Once the trout has been eaten, the sun slowly starts to set behind the Tennengebirge mountains and it gradually becomes a little colder, it certainly isn't time to make your way back to the hotel. That's when your host, George, will swap the pots and pans for his Styrian harmonica. The patio, or indeed the hut, then snuggles together and breaks into song. But don't worry: There are plenty of copies of the lyrics. There aren't any (good) excuses!
When it's time to sing "Der alte Jäger vom Silbertannental" – one of the old favourites at the fish pond – you will be certain to understand what the philosophy of nature experience & hospitality at the Lämmerhof means. The Hedegger family looks forward to enjoying a pleasant evening at the fish pond with you, and will be pleased to answer any of your questions as part of your non-binding enquiry or online booking.
